March 27, 2015 “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” ― W.B. Yeats
The importance of education is at the top of my mind today. I just returned from a week of classes at the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) held at Indiana University. I was privileged to teach one day on Benefit Auctions. The participants enjoyed sessions on a diverse range of other great topics as well. Auctioneers from all across the country journey to attend this CAI three-year program. It is a wonderful catalyst for great ideas, a place to network with those of like mind and the opportunity to receive education that enables auctioneers to work smarter for their clients.
There are many forms of education for nonprofits that you should consider to help keep you sharp and arm you with the tools you need to be successful in your efforts. The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) are among many resources of education for nonprofits. You’ll also find similar resources within your state, including the Alabama chapter of the AFP and the Georgia Center for Nonprofits. State independent school associations include the Alabama Association of Independent Schools and the Georgia Independent School Association.
And don’t forget about the Benefit Auction Institute as an exceptional resource for education.
I urge you to check out these and other sites to learn how to bring fresh ideas and programs to your organization.
