benefit auction event

Do purchasers at your benefit auction event sometimes leave and not take their item(s) home the night of the auction? During instruction for the Benefit Auction Institute recently in Birmingham one of the attendees from Camp Smile-A-Mile shared how they assist buyers with item pick up.

The day following your benefit auction event, establish two hours (either in the morning or afternoon) for guests to pick up their items.

If the venue where you held the event will not be available the day afterward, transport the items to a central location. You’ll want to inform guests during the evening of the auction event of this opportunity.

With the increasing use of mobile bidding and the absence of a need for guests to physically stand in line and go through the payment process for their items, the practice of your attendees leaving items at the venue is becoming more common. Go with the flow and structure your pick-up with this contingency in mind.
