May 13, 2016 Mudbugs (and Facebook) Helping Make a Difference for the Animals

Last Saturday my husband Mike and I hosted the 4th Annual Crawfish Boil and Fly-In benefiting the Humane Society Pet Rescue and Adoption Center.  We tried something different in our marking efforts that really paid off with a 242% increase in attendance. As a result, we raised 3 times the amount of money we had raised at our previous events.  How did we do it?

We purchased $100 of Facebook ads to promote the event. Our ad targeted the demographic relative to the attendees that we wanted to join us and we set the ad to run for two weeks. We encouraged others to share the post and we are thankful for the AMAZING way they did just that. The turnout for this event was simply fabulous!

For your next event I suggest you consider promotion via a Facebook ad. Alternatively you can “boost” a post about your event to target those individuals who share a common interest in your nonprofit and are therefore likely to attend and help you raise the funds you are seeking.  I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the return on this advertising investment.
