September 30, 2016 WHY Aren’t You Posting Your Fundraising Event on Social Media?
I’m always amazed when I head to our C King Benefit Auctions social media sites to share or tweet about a nonprofit client’s upcoming event and find that they’ve not bothered to create the event on their social media presence or even just mention it in their feed. This is the easiest and quickest way to get the word out about your fundraiser, folks. And all for the low, low price of FREE!
There are so many ways you can take advantage of this resource that it would be hard to list them all in one blog.
For starters, create an event then ask everyone in your orbit to share it. Don’t forget to bump your fundraising auctioneer – we love plastering our clients’ events on our social media.
A couple of weeks out from your event make it a point every day to add a photo of a live auction item and get people excited and ready to bid before they ever walk through the door at your event.
Want to thrill the planners of the world? Add a blip about the dress code for the event.
Looking to appeal to the foodies out there? Post the menu for the evening.
Remember that you can link your Facebook to your Twitter account and everything you post on Facebook will automatically show up on Twitter. It’s a two-fer!
All it takes is just a few minutes of your time to build buzz about your event on social media sites. If your schedule just isn’t going to allow you the time, then I suggest you find a volunteer willing to do it for you. This task is just too important to let slip through the cracks.
Let’s face it, folks who want to know about an event are going to check out your Facebook page and/or Twitter feed (and Instagram and Pinterest, etc., etc.) and if they see it’s not important enough for you to post they may not think it’s important enough for them to attend. You send a loud and clear message when you don’t have that event up for all to see.
Social media is the way to go. And I’m just betting you’ll see an increase in revenue at your next event if you make an effort to saturate your presence on those sites with the details of your nonprofit fundraising event.
